In order to take CNA Classes in New york to become a Certified Nurse Assistant you must have a high school diploma or a GED. You will have to have a negative TB test within the past 6 months and proof of immunization. You will need to have a clean background check, two fingerprint cards, Photo ID, and two passport sized photos before you can be certified. Most CNA courses are 2-6 months and require 75 hours of coursework and 100 hours of clinical rotation before you can take the state exam. After you pass the clinical skills and competency exam you will be placed in the NY Nurse Aid registry. You can then work in nursing homes.
