CNA Certification Classes

cna certification classesIf you are looking for a fast paced and challenging career then becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant is the career for you. This career is in high demand and is relatively easy to transition into. As a Certified Nursing Assistant or CNA you are responsible for the care and safety of the patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or doctor. You handle the patients’ needs such as feeding, grooming, bathing, checking vitals, and inserting feeding tubes or catheters.  As a CNA you provide for the emotional, physical and social needs of the patients.

Where can you gain your CNA information?

In order to become a Certified Nursing Assistant you must complete a course either online or on campus if you already have the prerequisites. It is required that you have a high school diploma or GED, you must be at least 18 and you may have to meet certain health requirements. Often you will have to take several health tests and prove you have had the necessary vaccinations.

The course can take anywhere from 8-12 weeks (though this varies) and covers material that can vary by state. This makes this a perfect career because it requires minimal time for training, offers room for advancement, provides job security, and a decent salary.

How do you fund your CNA Certification Classes?

Sometimes if you are unemployed, a veteran, or have low income you can gain this training for free. It is also possible to find scholarships or government loans. Some local health facilities will sponsor students and there is financial aid possible.

Another option, though less appealing, is to apply for a private loan through a bank or financial institution.

How do you become certified?

After you have completed your program you will be required to take a final exam and once you pass that exam you could be working in a matter of weeks. Some states require that you meet other requirements as well. In certain states you can work while training and others require you to have completed the course beforehand. You must also in many states register as a CNA with the state for your license.  There will also be a background and drug test.  If you are nervous about the examination you could take the practice test beforehand to increase your confidence.

There are a variety of CNA classes and programs available to become a certified nurses aid and you just need to find the one that works the best for you.
